BLINK 2024

I was invited to a team of 22 people at my school to design and create an art piece for Blink’s 2024 art show. Blink is the United States' largest open-air art gallery, where 80 different global artists are invited to decorate Cincinnati with various pieces, spanning 30 blocks of the city. Our contribution - "Giant Step", took place on the YWCA Building as one of the centerpiece projections for BLINK 2024.

Our team was given the theme "City of the Future" as a base point for our contribution. Our piece aimed to convey a conflict and eventual harmony between two opposing forces - nature and industry. This eventual harmony is what we envisioned the "City of the Future" would look like. Our piece is aptly named "Giant Step", due to the massive change that takes place throughout the merging of the two opposite forces, where innovation and environmental recognition can come together as one. Our story takes place throughout 3 different acts.

Act 1: Act one features mostly natural and organic visuals. Flowers, microbial blobs, and a nature scene can all be found on display, before technology takes over.

Act 2: Act 2 is centered all around technology. Different circuit boards and wires take over the building while simultaneously pushing out the organic aspects from Act 1.

Act 3: Act 3 pushes to find a balance between the 2 extremes. The ace starts with a space scene that flys into earth before showing different harmonious visuals between nature and technology, such as prismatic butterflies and flowers.
